Pasig City Healthcare Centers

Mental Health Gap Action Programme

The Mental Health Program of Pasig City is a community-based health program integrated into the primary care system through our city health centers and primary care facilities. It provides a continuum of mental health services, including initial screening, comprehensive assessment, psychosocial intervention, pharmacologic treatment, and referral to higher levels of care when necessary. The program also includes access to free mental health medications sourced from the Department of Health (DOH) through the Medicine Access Program for Mental Health.

  • They started collaborating with the National Safe Motherhood Program (NSMP) specifically regarding mental health screening in the antenatal and postpartum periods. This partnership aims to strengthen the bridge between maternal health and mental wellness.

  • Most of their doctors, nurses, and midwives at the Health Centers are trained to screen for depression using standard tools like the PHQ-9. These screenings are conducted during the high-risk antenatal and postpartum phases to ensure early detection.

  • While they do not have a separate specialized unit, their primary care workers provide clinical assessment, management and guidance. Patients screened by a midwife are referred to their Health Center doctor for further management, which includes brief supportive counseling.
